With more than 23 internationally leading trade fairs, Messe Düsseldorf is one of the world’s major trade fair locations. Its main characteristics are its closeness to Düsseldorf International Airport, at a mere 4 km and the attractive position by the river Rhine. In all, Düsseldorf has 307,000 square cetres of exhibition surface available, 252,000 of which are within 19 trade fair halls arranged in a closed and circle. Apart from direct connections to the public transport system, Messe Düsseldorf provides 20,000 parking spaces for private transport on its own surrounding car parks.

REHACARE
As the world’s leading and biggest event for this industry, REHACARE is geared to people with disabilities and care needs, as well as to specialist medical aid suppliers, and in-patient and outpatient care professionals. It offers visitors the unique opportunity to inform themselves about innovative rehabilitation products, aids and therapies. All areas of life, such as lodging, work and career, education, leisure and travel are represented.

There is a special focus on mobility as an overarching theme. Here REHACARE  provides a particularly broad spectrum of mobility aids, walking frames, wheelchairs, scooters and retrofitted motor vehicles.

And REHACARE isn’t only about presenting the latest products and services, because it is also a communication platform and a forum for sharing experience, knowledge transfer and “family meetings” for many people who are actively involved with selfhelp organisations and in networks of people with disabilities.

As such, REHACARE offers a wealth of workshops, forums and presentations in subjects such as professional (re)integration, autonomous living, information for family members acting as carers, barrier-free tourism, and the introduction of certain therapy concepts, all of which expand the scope of the show. These help with decision-making, serve to provide information, and bring different partners on the supply and demand sides together.

In political terms, REHACARE operates as a mouthpiece, drawing attention to care shortfalls, and stimulating political discussion. It is thus an important catalyst when it comes to questions about inclusion and integration.
